Surveys, Trends & Stats ELSTAT: Turnover in Greek Accommodation and F&B Grows in Q2 by GTP editing team 11 September 2019 written by GTP editing team 11 September 2019 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 4 Second quarter 2019 turnover for Greece’s accommodation and food services sector grew by 12.9 percent compared to Q2 a year ago, marking at the same time a 10.9 percent rise against the same period in 2017, according to data released on Wednesday, by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT). More specifically, according to ELSTAT figures, turnover for Q2 2019 accommodation grew by 16.9 percent compared with the Q2 2018, which was up by 11.8 percent against the same quarter in 2017. The Q2 2019 turnover index for the food service activities sector increased by 6.2 percent against the second quarter of 2018, which had marked a 9.7 percent rise compared to the corresponding period in 2017. Meanwhile, in terms of quarter-on-quarter growth, overall turnover in accommodation and food services in Q2 2019 increased by 210.5 percent against the 1st quarter of the year, compared to a 122.3 percent rise between corresponding quarters in 2018. Photo © Maria Theofanopoulou The Q2 2019 turnover index in accommodation rose by 649.6 percent against the 1st quarter of the year, against a 304.4 percent increase in the corresponding quarter comparisons of 2018. And lastly, turnover in food service activities in the 2nd quarter of 2019 grew by 52.3 percent compared with Q1 2019, compared to a 28.9 percent rise in between the corresponding quarters in 2018. The year-on-year results, ELSTAT analysts note, reflect the “intense seasonality of the sector”.
