The Greek capital is ready to host the Fancy Women Bike Ride, an international event which will be held simultaneously in 120 cities around the world on Sunday, September 22.

Starting at 5.30 on Sunday evening, a group of fancy ladies will gather at Jacqueline de Romilly square in Thisio to have their pre-event photos taken.

The bike ride will begin at 6pm and will end at 7pm at Agia Irini Square in the city center. The cyclists will pass by Ermou and Athinas streets, Omonia Square, Stadiou street, Syntagma Square, Perikleous and Ahinaidos streets, before reaching Agia Irini.

More photos and selfies will follow, as well as lots of chatting, music and dancing. The organizers encourage participants to dress “fancy or chic”, smile and pose to the photographers.

Launched in Istanbul in 2013, the Fancy Women Bike Ride is organized by women who aim to promote cycling, raise awareness on road safety and encourage the creation of urban cycling infrastructure and bike-friendly services.

A total of 120 cities join the celebration this year in 18 countries. Among them are Izmir, Istanbul, Milan, Bern, Cologne, Nicosia, Berlin, London, Vancouver, Washington DC and San José.
