Public transport in Athens will be disrupted on Tuesday, September 24, due to a 24-hour strike called by Greece’s main public sector umbrella union ADEDY in protest against an omnibus bill to be submitted in Parliament by the Development and Investment Ministry on that day.

Workers of public transport are protesting against provisions in the bill related to trade unions.

Up until now, it has been announced that trolleys, OASA buses and the electric railway (ISAP) will not operate for 24 hours.

Also, work stoppages have been announced by workers of the Athens metro (the metro will will operate only between 9am – 9pm) and of the tram (cars will run only between 7am – 11pm).

Ferries in Greece will also not be in service on Tuesday as the Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has announced a 24-hour strike in all ship categories.
