Condor, a member of Thomas Cook Group Airlines, on Monday announced that it will continue its flight operations, despite the parent company’s decision to file for bankruptcy.

“Condor Flugdienst GmbH and its subsidiaries currently have the financial means to continue flight operations. Thomas Cook Aviation and Thomas Cook Airlines Balearics, who both operate flights for Condor, also continue flight operations,” the airline’s CEO Ralf Teckentrup said in an announcement.

Condor, however, clarified that it has applied for a state bridging loan and noted that it is currently unable to make any payments for services rendered in the past.

“Please help us to keep Condor in the air and alive. Our 4,900 employees have stood for quality and reliability for years and will continue to do so,” Teckentrup said.

The announcement was made shortly after Thomas Cook on Monday announced its decision to cease operations and cancel all bookings for flights and holidays.

Based at Frankfurt Airport, Condor operates scheduled flights to leisure destinations in the Mediterranean, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, and the Caribbean.

Condor is represented in Greece and Cyprus by Discover the World.
