The Creta Maris Beach Resort, located on Crete, recently held a voluntary cleanup operation in the coastal area of Heraklion, in collaboration with the environmental organization “Let’s do it Greece”.

The initiative was held on “World Cleanup Day” on September 21, under the slogan “Be the Change You Expect”.

Wearing special gloves and hats, more than 130 employees of Creta Maris and volunteers from all over Greece participated in the event and cleaned the coastal area of the former US military base in Gournes, by collecting 88 cubic feet of waste and 20 bags of recyclables.

Aiming to raise environmental awareness and improve the image of the wider area of Hersonissos, Creta Maris has put sustainability at the top of its priorities, also creating value for the local community.

“The values we serve at Creta Maris are shared with the local community through our actions that eventually form the environment in which we operate. The cornerstone of our activity is to make Crete a sustainable destination. Volunteerism and the organized efforts of Creta Maris to protect the environment are an integral part of the hotel’s identity,” the resort’s general manager Nikos Vlassiadis said.

The Creta Maris Beach Resort is located in Hersonissos on the island of Crete. It is a member of the Metaxa Hospitality Group, which is committed to reducing its impact on the environment while offering its hotel guests authentic and quality Greek experiences.
