Slovenian airline Adria Airways has left Star Alliance, the global airline network, after declaring bankruptcy and ceasing all flight operations.

“This has been a regrettable development following 15 years of Adria Airways’ membership,” Star Alliance said.

Adria Airways declared bankruptcy on September 30.

Members of Star Alliance Lufthansa, Brussels Airlines and SWISS have announced additional routes and frequencies to serve Ljubljana.

Adria was the flag carrier of Slovenia operating scheduled and charter services to European destinations. Founded in 1961, the carrier also offered air connections between central and Southeastern Europe. As a Star Alliance member it provided access to a global network of flights to 190 countries.

Its registered office was located at Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia.
