Thessaloniki’s five-star Makedonia Palace hotel, on Wednesday, November 6, will host a charity auction of antiques, modern and contemporary art to support the efforts of the Hellenic Cancer Society – Macedonia & Thrace Branch. The auction will be held in collaboration with Loudos Auctions, Chalkos Gallery and Ziaras Antiques. According to an announcement, over 150 items will be auctioned, featuring works of modern and contemporary art by Greek and foreign artists, quality antiques, collectible watches, books and decoration items. The auction will include works of Greek artists Pavlos Kougioumtzis, Alekos Fasianos, Giorgos Lappas, Eduardos Sakayan, Jean Sceron (Yiannis Xirocostas), Daniel (Panagopoulos), Mayo (Antonis Malliarakis) and Michalis Garoudis. Meanwhile, a number of works by foreign artists will be auctioned including a drawing by Andy Warhol which is part of the Takis Efstathiou collection; the art collection of German Hubert Berke; “The Spirit of Hermes”, a sculpture by Japanese Masaaki Nooda; works of Turkish pop artist Yiğit Yazıcı, Canadian street artist G. Knight and French RS Artist. Also included in the auction will be a photo portrait of collector Takis Efstathiou titled “Takis E. N.Y.C. 2019”, created by American photographer Douglas Dubler. German Franz Herml clock made circa 1940, in complete function.The Spirit of Hermes, 2010, Polished Stainless Steel, 1/1, 120 cm. This sculpture was the model for the monumental sculpture that is installed in Marathon, Greece for the anniversary of the 2,500 years of the battle of Marathon. Other items to be presented during the auction include collections of pocket and wall watches; a 1870 Rover heater; a collectible photo album of Hollywood stars and a 1910 carte-postale collection with special binding. Participants will also have the opportunity to bid for a collection of Japanese fairy tales translated into English by Lefcadio Hearn. In addition, the auction will feature a collection of silkscreens and lithographs by Yiannis Tsarouchis, Stephen Antonakos, Takis (Panayiotis Vassilakis), Nassos Daphnis, Alekos Fassianos and Chryssa (Vardea).
