Founded by Claus Sendlinger in 1993, Design Hotels offers its members insightful travel industry knowledge, from market trend consultancy to international sales representation. A member of Phāea Resorts (former Sbokos Hotel Group), Cretan Malia Park is a luxury retreat located on the coast of Malia on the island of Crete. The 204-room hotel recently underwent extensive renovation work, and now offers modern design inspired by the colors and textures of the island. The Cretan Malia Park’s rooms and suites are located on the ground and first floor, ensuring proximity to the outdoor spaces via a balcony or the garden terrace. Each guestroom category – double guestrooms, bugalows and suites – is defined by its own set of decorative elements, with hand-made cement tiles in jade green, blue or terracotta colors, white mosaic, gray marble and walnut among other materials. Greek and Mediterranean gastronomy The food and beverage offers at Cretan Malia Park is defined by diversity and sustainability, with ingredients coming from the hotel’s organic garden. Located on the ground floor of the main building, Mediterraneo is an all-day restaurant offering Mediterranean dishes and regional specialties. In addition, the hotel’s Almyra restaurant is influenced by Italian cuisine, while the Mouries restaurant offers insight into traditional Greek gastronomy, with a menu of simple but also timeless recipes. Furthermore, the hotel’s new Beach Shack serves Greek tapas, while The Crush, the Pool Bar, and the Lobby Bar round off the hotel’s impressive range of restaurants and bars. Wellness Creta Malia Park also features a number of spaces devoted to wellness. A yoga pavilion hosts morning classes and meditation sessions, while The Cute Spa offers an intimate retreat set amid the cacti and banana trees of the hotel’s tranquil gardens. The hotel’s premises also include two pools, a wading pool, a kids’ club, and The Place which is exclusively designed for teenagers.
