The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens is inviting all to its “Christmas World” on Saturday, November 30, to illuminate its premises and celebrate the start of the holiday season.

“Thousands of Christmas lights will twinkle on trees along the Canal, the lavishly decorated Christmas trees at the Agora will be revealed in all their glory, while light installations at the Stavros Niarchos Park will playfully interact with visitors,” SNFCC said in an announcement.

“This December will be full of festivities, with each day holding new surprises. Games, creative activities, arts, and sports will make this holiday season genuinely special for visitors of all ages.”

The Center’s Ice Rink will also be ready to welcome its first skaters on Saturday, in the sound of the Greek National Opera Children’s Choir, while spectacular water shows will take place at the canal’s Dancing Fountains.

Festivities will start at 6pm and end late at night with a grand party at the Agora, with soul queen Idra Kayne.

New Year’s eve

Festivities at SNFCC will continue throughout holiday season, while the center will, once again, hold a number of special events on December 31, to welcome the New Year.

A few minutes after midnight, SNFCC will hold the “SNF Run: 2020 First Run”, the foundation’s running event which every year attracts thousands of visitors of all ages from Athens and beyond.

The SNF Run’s proceeds and an additional contribution by SNF will be donated to nonprofit organizations supporting children including the Spring Children, Angels of Joy, and the “Good Shepherd” Minors Protection Association of Piraeus.

Events will continue with a DJ set by British music legend Eddie Piller.

The “Christmas World” will come to life again this year through an exclusive grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
