Lufthansa, the Lufthansa Group’s leading airline, on Wednesday announced that it is opening to new destinations in Greece, Rhodes and Zakynthos. The new Rhodes-Frankfurt and Zakynthos-Munich routes will begin in April 2020, each with one weekly flight. A second weekly flight will be added to both routes from early June. “These new flights to two of Europe’s biggest hubs – Frankfurt and Munich – will give our passengers from Greece the opportunity to enhance their travel experience and get a suitable connection to our world-wide network,” Konstantinos Tzevelekos, General Sales Manager of the Lufthansa Group in Greece and Cyprus, said. The Rhodes connection will operate every Tuesday and Saturday and the route to Zakynthos, every Wednesday and Saturday, with Lufthansa Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft respectively. “For all incoming passengers we offer more exciting destinations in Greece and be flexible about their travel choices,” Tzevelekos added. The airline also announced the addition of an extra flight to Heraklion, aimed to serve the high demand for the popular destination for the 2020 season. Flights to Heraklion will take place every Wednesday and Saturday from Frankfurt Airport. Agios Dionyssios Church and harbour, Zakynthos, Ionian Islands. The new destinations are added to a long list of Lufthansa routes into Greece, which also include Athens, Thessaloniki, Santorini, Heraklion and Corfu, servicing many popular summer holiday and city break destinations in Greece, as well as expanding the airlines’ portfolio in the local market and offering travelers with additional leisure and business destination options. “We honour the long history we have in Greece and continue our commitment to invest and support the local economies and offer new travel options to our customers,” Tzevelekos said. The new Lufthansa Rhodes-Frankfurt and Zakynthos-Munich connections are already available for bookings on Lufthansa.com or the airline’s travel agency partners and sales counters at airports.
