Hotel brand reputation firm Guestflip was one of nine companies that made into the first round of the Capsule T accelerator program (September-December 2019) – a Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) initiative. The winners were presented during a ceremony this week held at the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation in Athens, attended by HCH President Alexandros Vassilikos and CapsuleT Director Katerina Saridaki, who also announced the second and third place winners: hotel experiences booking platform HotelToolbox, which won a 5,000-euro prize and hotel experiences booking platform HotelStand clinching a 3,000-euro reward. Phase 2 of CapsuleT opens on December 16 and startup teams creating tourism and travel solutions can apply for the March 2020 accelerator program on capsuletaccelerator.gr. The HCH Capsule T program aims to foster a growth environment to tech startups focusing on travel and hospitality solutions. Each cycle lasts for three months with a resident option open for an additional three months for free. The program includes workshops, mentoring sessions, events, pitching opportunities, meetups, industry site visits and networking activities. Besides the cash prize, Guestflip will also have the chance to attend the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw, Poland, where the team will be guided by Google experts through mentoring sessions with all costs covered by Google, CapsuleT’s sponsor. “Digital innovation is creating a new era for the tourism economy, and responding to the needs of a future that is already here the HCH takes center stage through targeted actions such as CapsuleT,” said Vassilikos.
