According to an announcement, the “16th Annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards” evaluated Alitalia’s Magnifica long-haul business class seat and meals served onboard as the best in the world for 2019. Global Traveler readers selected, for the second consecutive year, the comfort of Magnifica’s lie-flat seats upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather and equipped with massage function as the ‘Best Business-Class Seat Design’. Alitalia was also awarded as the airline with the “Best Airline Cuisine” due to the quality of the meals served onboard, paired with award-winning Italian wines. According to Alitalia, the award reaffirms the airline’s constant commitment to improve its catering and aim to present Italy through a journey to its most characteristic culinary experiences. The Italian airline received the prize for the 10th year in a row and entered the Global Traveler Hall of Fame of the most awarded airlines. Global Traveler conducted its GT Tested Reader Survey by asking frequent business and luxury travelers to name the best in a variety of travel-related categories. More than 22,000 people responded this year. High customer satisfaction rates Meanwhile, Alitalia’s customer satisfaction rates have significantly increased during the last two years. The latest surveys show that between January and November 2019, the percentage of satisfied passengers (those who expressed an “excellent”, “very good” or “good” rating) reached 88.2 percent, registering a growth by 2.5 percentage points versus the same period of 2018 and by 5 percentage points compared to 2017. Even the net promoter score (customers’ propensity to recommend Alitalia to friends and relatives, based on their experience) has reached record results in the eleven months of 2019 with an increase of 7.1 percentage points compared to 2018 and 16.5 percentage points compared to the same period of 2017.
