Special Christmas menus and Advent specials on board will put the Lufthansa Group’s guests in the mood for their Christmas market visit during the flight,” the group said in an announcement. Christmas menus SWISS is indulging its guests with traditional Swiss Christmas specialties: Winter snacks such as “Weihnachtsguetzli” (Christmas cookies) are offered in all travel classes before “Grittibänzen” (sweat bread rolls) and gingerbread will be on the menu on special days. During the Christmas holidays, there will also be special festive menus to choose from. Austrian Airlines will be preparing its guests for their visit to one of the Christmas markets by serving punch, a typical hot drink from Vienna’s Christmas markets. In addition, during the Advent season and into the new year, mandarins will be distributed as a healthy snack on board. Instead of sweet bread rolls and gingerbread, guests of Austrian Airlines will receive chocolate Santa Clauses on selected flights. Lufthansa will also be offering passengers traditional dishes such as roast goose with red cabbage and dumplings, Christmas chocolate and biscuits in joyful anticipation of Christmas. All of these airlines will surprise their little guests with a teddy bear wearing a Christmas hat. Christmas markets in the Alpine region In Munich, Christmas market visitors with a preference for rustic, festively decorated wooden huts and the classic culinary offers can stroll through the “Christkindlmarkt” at Marienplatz. Vienna, Austria Meanwhile, Vienna, with its gigantic chandeliers above the streets and its many beautiful Christmas markets, is served by Austrian Airlines. The city’s brightly illuminated City Hall with its festively decorated park bathes the market in sparkling light and is thus the perfect place to create a Christmas atmosphere. SWISS takes its passengers to Bellevue, one of the coziest Christmas villages in Switzerland. Furthermore, the traditional “Dörfli Weihnachtsmarkt” in Zurich’s old town is an absolute must for those who prefer it more tranquil.
