Company updates Summer 2021: MSC Cruises to Base Ship in Greece for First Time by GTP editing team 16 December 2019 written by GTP editing team 16 December 2019 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 MSC Cruises has announced that its MSC Lirica vessel is to homeport in Piraeus, Greece, for the first time in summer 2021, offering a newly-designed innovative itinerary 7-night cruises on 23 separate occasions, in the Eastern Mediterranean market, between May and September. MSC Lirica will start out from Piraeus calling Mykonos; Haifa, Israel; Limassol; Cyprus; Rhodes; and Kusadasi, Turkey before returning to Piraeus. “Since we first saw guests board our ships in Greece in 2003 our presence in the country has grown significantly and I would like to express our gratitude for the incredible support that the Greek travel trade has provided to help us build our business and success,” MSC Cruises Executive Director Angelo Capurro said. According to Capurro, the relationship of MSC Cruises with the travel agency community of Greece has developed at a very a positive rate. “We can all look forward to working together towards a busy summer 2021 when Piraeus will play a major role in our Eastern Mediterranean cruise programme with guests embarking there for the first time,” he said. “Looking further ahead, as we continue to grow as a business and introduce more ships to our fleet, I’m confident that we will have a greater presence in Greece,” Capurro added. MSC Lirica offers a distinctive cruise experience centred on elegance, comfort and hospitality with 992 guest cabins. An atmosphere of relaxed spaciousness pervades, with magnificent internal vistas from the foyer and unimpeded ocean views from the lounges’ floor-to-ceiling picture windows. The ship’s offerings include two main restaurants, a buffet and a sushi bar; a choice of lounges and bars; a Broadway Theatre for entertainment; a casino; and a spa. For families, there is a children’s play area, two swimming pools and an activities program for kids of all ages. A Geneva-based company, MSC Cruises plans to bring guests to Athens from Northern Europe and further afield on its MSC Fly & Cruise deals to embark its ships at the Greek port of Piraeus.
