Alexandroupolis is the eleventh destination of AIA’s “Fly me to the Moon-Sounds Greek to Me!” program, which is running for a sixth year at the airport. According to AIA, Alexandroupolis’ Christmas characters of “Pourpouris” and “Kortopoula” will welcome the passengers and visitors of the airport, during the two-day event that is dedicated to local culture and gastronomy tradition. Photo Source: @Port of Alexandroupolis “Pourpouris” protects people from wintertime and evil, while “Kortopoula”, a symbol of fertility, brings in the spring season. “Together, they invite travelers to an unforgettable festive, singing and dancing experience,” AIA said. Cultural Associations of Alexandroupolis will lead a line dance in traditional costumes and sing the Christmas carols. Athens International Airport (archive photo) Furthermore, through VR technology, the public will experience a spectacular virtual view of Alexandroupolis and its historic lighthouse, while enjoying an unforgettable sailing trip to the Evros Delta. In addition, travelers will have the chance to taste popular Christmas recipes from the area of Alexandroupolis and participate in special festive activities from Thrace. Alexandroupolis’ events will take place on December 23 and 24, from 12pm to 4pm, at AIA’s Departures’ Level – Entrance 3.
