Awards Creta Maris Crowned Environmental Champion by TUI by GTP editing team 23 December 2019 written by GTP editing team 23 December 2019 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 15 The Creta Maris Beach Resort in Hersonissos on Crete, for the third time in a row, has been recognized as one of the “greenest” and top-quality resorts by receiving two distinctions – the TUI Umwelt Champion 2020 and TUI Top Quality 2020 awards – from leading tourism group TUI. The TUI Umwelt Champion award – also known as the TUI Environmental Champion award – is given by the tourism group to hotels that protect the environment and implement sustainability practices. To receive the Umwelt Champion award, hotels and resorts must meet strict criteria and receive very positive ratings provided by guests to hotels. “The Sustainability Program of Creta Maris is a key pillar of the resort’s operation, as reflected in the Sustainability Report that Creta Maris publishes the last six years, presenting in detail all the relevant actions,” the hotel’s management said in an announcement. The second distinction, the TUI Top Quality award, rewards the overall holiday experience enjoyed by the guests while staying at a hotel. According to Creta Maris, guests this year distinguished Creta Maris as one of the best hotels for its high quality services and the provision of hospitality that focuses on people. “Creating an unforgettable travel experience in a sustainable destination that respects the environment, the local community and its guests is a way of life for us all at Creta Maris Beach Resort,” said Creta Maris Beach Resort General Manager Nikos Vlassiadis, underlining that the reward of the efforts by TUI is a great honor. A member of Metaxa Hospitality Group, the Creta Maris Beach Resort is a blend of tradition and luxury and has a capacity of 680 rooms, suites and bungalows. The resort’s offerings include six restaurants, nine bars, seven swimming pools, a waterpark, an open-air cinema, a fitness center and a children’s club.
