Hundreds of Wishes Light Up the Night Sky in Athens

The night sky of central Athens on Tuesday was illuminated in a spectacle of lights during the “Night of Wishes” event held on Christmas Eve at Kotzia Square.

Organized by the Municipality of Athens, the event attracted hundreds of Athenians who accompanied the city’s mayor, Kostas Bakoyannis, and wrote their wishes in paper lanterns and released them into the sky, hoping that they will come true.

The unique event was followed by an impressive audiovisual show (3D projection mapping) put together by the Athens Digital Arts Festival with the building of City Hall in the background.

The municipality’s festivities continued at a party at Syntagma Square that included a concert by Greek group Onirama.
