According to Fraport, passenger traffic increased by 0.9 percent last year and reached 30.15 million compared to 29.88 million in 2018. The busiest Greek airports were Thessaloniki’s Makedonia with 6.89 million passengers (up 3.1 percent), Rhodes airport with 5.54 million passengers (down 0.5 percent), Corfu airport with 3.27 million passengers (down 2.6 percent), and Chania airport on Crete, with 2.98 million travelers (down by 0.8 percent). The airport of Mykonos achieved the highest passenger increase by 8.9 percent and welcomed 1.52 million travelers. On the other hand, traffic at the Kavala airport dropped by 20.6 percent with 323,310 travelers. International arrivals rose by 1.5 percent during the 12-month period and reached 23.24 million. Fraport has thus far completed upgrade works on nine of its 14 regional airports, while the company says it is committed to extending the tourism season by increasing inbound traffic and attracting more airlines to the Greek market.
