Meteora, Volos and Pelion are among the Greek destinations to be featured in Spanish public broadcaster RTVE’s shows “Senderos del Mundo” and “Turismo Rural en el Mundo”, in February.

Following an invitation by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), RTVE’s crew recently arrived to Greece to produce two episodes in three different languages – Spanish, English and German – that will broadcast in Spain and other countries around the world.

According to an announcement by the GNTO, Senderos del Mundo host Juan Frutos, along with the show’s dog mascot Migas, will be touring central Greece until January 21 in order to film in Meteora, Volos, the National Park of Pelion and the coastal area of the Pagasetic Gulf.

The show will highlight the area’s traditional art, gastronomy and wineries as well as the local tsipouro production, the cultivation of olive trees and other activities.

According to the GNTO, RTVE’s shows count 500,000 TV viewers in Spain alone.

New fam and press trips for 2020

Meanwhile, the organization has also launched a new program of fam and press trips for 2020, with a number of foreign travel agencies and tour operators expected to visit the country within the year.

Already, between January 12-16, representatives of Nunta de Plaja, a Bucharest-based agency organizing wedding events, visited the islands of Evia and Limnos to discover unique wedding locations.

Meanwhile, on January 18, GNTO’s office in Israel will bring a group of four escape room players to Athens to show them around the city. The aim of the fam trip will be to promote the Greek capital as a travel option for the fans of the popular game.

Earlier this month, the GNTO also brought to Athens a travel journalist from UK free newspaper City A.M., in efforts to promote the Greek capital as a city break destination.

City A.M. publishes 335,000 issues, while its online edition counts over 1 million visitors every month.
