Scheduled for February 19-22, the golf event will take place at The Dunes Course and The Bay Course of Costa Navarino in Messinia. Sepp Maier is regarded as one of Germany’s greatest ever goalkeepers. He has won three European Cups with Bayern Munich, a European Championship and a World Cup. The 75-year-old athlete is also a highly-skilled golf player. He will compete as an amateur in the 4th Messinia Pro-Am 2020. The Bay Course, Costa Navarino Renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr will also be present at the event. During his career, Jones has designed over 300 golf courses in 40 countries, including The Bay Course at Costa Navarino. The program Events for the 4th Messinia Pro-Am 2020 will begin on Wednesday, February 19, with the teams’ Official Practice Day. The tournament will kick off the next day with the first round. It will continue on Friday with the second round and conclude on Saturday, February 22, with the finals. The tournament’s professional golfers will claim the title from last year’s winner Alessandro Tadini and compete for a total prize fund of 50,000 euros. The Dunes Course, Costa Navarino “The 4th Messinia Pro-Am 2020 will mark the start of the season for sports and tourism in Messinia,” Costa Navarino, organizer of the event, said in an announcement. Parallel events Apart from the action in the golf course, Messinia Pro-Am will also include social events such as the “Speakeasy” night – a welcome reception at the 1827 lounge bar; the “Let’s Roll” charity bowling game for the SOS Children’s Villages; and the “La Fiesta” Mexican dinner and Prize Giving Ceremony which will take place at Costa Navarino on February 22, after the finals.
