The Philoxenia Hotel, located in Halkidiki, was recently certified with the Green Key eco-label for its environmental policy and sustainable tourism practices.

Established by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the Green Key honors hospitality facilities that promote sustainable tourism. The initiative is coordinated in Greece by the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature.

“A key factor in the success of Philoxenia Hotel is the offer of high-quality services with respect to the natural environment,” Hotel Manager Konstantinos Skepetaris said in an announcement.

Since 2014, the Philoxenia Hotel has established an integrated environmental management system. It has also been certified with the ISO 14001: 2004 standard whose main principles are based on the well-known Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle.

The hotel’s environmental practices include waste sorting; recycling plastic, metal, paper and batteries; and reusing fry oil. Furthermore, the company looks to ensure that all the cleaning products used are environmentally friendly.

“Philoxenia Hotel seeks ways to motivate eco-friendly behavior and encourage its guests to participate in this significant effort to protect the natural environment and achieve sustainable development. The Green Key eco-label for tourism enterprises is a proof of these efforts,” Skepetaris added.

Located in the village of Psakoudia of the Sithonia peninsula in Halkidiki, the four-star Philoxenia Hotel offers modern amenities and a number of accommodation options.

The hotel complex consists of spacious gardens, two swimming pools, a wellness area with sauna, hammam and gym, the “Symposion” and “Kukunari” restaurants and “The Local Bar”.
