The Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) and the Association of Greek Regions (ENPE) have agreed to work together towards the balanced development of tourism and the equal distribution of sector benefits among local communities. ENPE President Apostolos Tzitzikostas and HCH chief Alexandros Vassilikos held a meeting this week, announcing the decision to organize 13 day events at regional centers across Greece, where tourism stakeholders can exchange views and insight on ways to evenly channel the benefits of tourism into local economies. “Tourism concerns us all because the benefits reach everyone. We are joining forces with the country’s regional government so that the tourism sector and the hotel industry generate even greater value for local communities and contribute to a sustainable future of prosperity for all,” said Vassilikos. The two bodies also agreed to organize seminars focusing on the use of the latest communication technologies in crisis management and for the protection of destination brand names and reputations from potential threats. The seminars are open to local government officials, hoteliers, and tourism professionals. Tzitzikostas stressed the importance of cooperation and synergies and added: “The common goal is to effectively and responsibly harness our great comparative advantage, which is the tourism sector and to create more opportunities for local economies and societies across Greece.” Join the 15,000+ travel executives who read our newsletter Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
