Photo Source: Chiosport.gr An upgraded and modernized marina is set to operate on the Greek island of Chios after the finalization on Thursday, of a concession agreement awarded to Marina Chios SA, which will manage the marina for next 40 years. Marina Chios SA – set up by Avlum Enterprises Company Limited – Ioannis & Elias D. Tefas Nafpigoplastiki – Cleopatra Marina SA – Touristikos Limenas Prevezas SA – will pay 6.21 million euros – 600,000 euros upfront, and an annual concession fee based the marina’s annual turnover. The deal was signed last summer by Tourism Minister Haris Theoharis, Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund (HRADF) Executive Chairman Aris Xenofos, and Marina Chios SA CEO Ioannis Tefas. Photo Source: Chiosport.gr Islanders are optimistic that the new project will contribute to the tourism of the island which is located. Constructed in 1990, the marina is situated approximately 2.5km from Chios town and 6km from the airport. Under the agreement, Marina Chios SA is required to implement a series of investments over the next four years that will also contribute to the wider region. Once completed, the 80,000m2 harbor will be able to handle at least 180 recreational craft and 6,900m2 of space for tourism-leisure purposes and shelter as well as an upgraded road network, port entrance, and parking area.
