Passenger traffic at Athens International Airport (AIA) continued to grow in the first month of 2020, presenting a robust increase of 5.7 percent and reaching 1.47 million travellers.

According to AIA, January’s international passengers demonstrated a strong growth at the level of 10.1 percent, exceeding the 1 million mark (1.038 million) for the first time in the specific month.

On the other hand, domestic passengers at AIA dropped during January 2020.

“Domestic air travellers presented a decrease of 3.5 percent, attributed to the offered domestic services’ reduction compared to the previous year’s respective winter period,” ΑΙΑ said.

Passenger traffic at Athens Airport reached a new record in 2019, at 25.57 million, up by 6 percent compared to 24.13 million in 2018.
