The announcement follows President George Trivizas’ recent trip to the US to attend the New York Times Travel Show, where he met with major tour operators. According to the chamber, US tour operators Gate One and Colette said that early bookings for Greece were up by 30 percent. Homeric and Globus also announced increased advanced bookings by 29 percent and 20 percent respectively. Despite the positive trend, the chamber expressed its concern about the impact the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) outbreak and the escalating tension in the Eastern Mediterranean may have on travel to Greece. Athens, Greece During his visit to New York, Trivizas met with representatives of leading media groups including NBC, Conde Nast Traveler and ABC. He also met with the organizers of the New York Times Travel Show and discussed on the potential of new collaborations for fam and press trips to Greece this year. During the meeting, Trivizas referred to the upcoming Ultimate Road Show / USA Travel Agents Educational Seminars 2020 – which covers major US cities – and underlined its significance for the Greek market.
