Greek tourism has the knowledge, maturity and professionalism to effectively recover from the coronavirus situation, according to the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE).

Greece’s first coronavirus case was reported in the city of Thessaloniki on Wednesday. According to reports, the female patient is 38 years old and had recently traveled from Italy.

“In the coming months, Greece is expected to welcome more than 30 million visitors, and calmness, coordination and cooperation is needed,” SETE said in an announcement.

The confederation underlined that it is in constant communication with its members and the authorities to ensure that the situation is evaluated, awareness is spread and the preventive measures that need to be implemented are followed.

The Greek government on Tuesday announced that it would take emergency response measures to the coronavirus this week that will include the right to impose controls at all of the country’s entry and exit points, as well as to temporarily restrict in part or completely access to Greece by air, sea, rail or road from Covid-19-affected countries.
