A landmark for food lovers, Selene Restaurant, for more than 30 years has been offering the finest dining experiences on Santorini, featuring creative cuisine inspired by the local culinary heritage. Established in 1986, Selene is a pioneer in Santorini’s gastronomy scene offering a high-end spin on traditional recipes and a different culinary approach to its eclectic guests. Selene’s founder, Yiorgos Hatziyiannakis, strives to preserve the Cycladic heritage by using local products from Santorini and collaborating with the island’s wine producers. Hatziyiannakis, together with chef Charis Nikolouzos, will aim to continue to evolve the legacy of the legendary restaurant in the Katikies Garden, a former monastery where the [local] Vinsanto wine was originally produced, stored and distributed to the Vatican. Filled with heritage and tradition, the restaurant will offer a masterfully crafted menu and an eclectic selection of fine quality wines from around the world and Santorini, handpicked by Yannis Karakasis MW (Master of Wine) from the monastery’s historic wine cellar. Selene Restaurant, in 2018 was included on The Telegraph’s list with the 20 Best Kept Secrets of the Greek islands. Earlier, in 2013, the restaurant had made it on The Daily Meal’s second-annual 101 Best Restaurants in Europe list. Selene’s new home, the five-star Katikies Garden, is member of the Leading Hotels of the World and features 40 suites, luxury wellness and leisure facilities.
