The museum opened its doors in late February for a month of trial operation with free admission. “This is a call to everyone that wishes to get to know the museum’s permanent collection and contribute to the next moves for the improvement of the city’s new culture destination,” the Greek Culture Ministry said in an announcement. EMST’s permanent collection includes 172 works by 78 Greek and foreign artists. Visitors also have access to the Contemporary Exhibition Space on Level -1 which currently hosts the “EMST Open. EMST and its stories” exhibition that presents the museum’s history through visual material. Furthermore, in the Project Room of the 3rd floor, a video installation by Larissa Sansour and Søren Lind titled “In Vitro”, features a 28-minute film that represented Denmark at the Venice Biennale in 2019. The EMST is located on Kallirrois Avenue & Amvr. Frantzi Street in Athens. Access for people with reduced mobility is from the entrance on Syngrou Avenue. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11 am until 7pm. The EMST is closed on Mondays.
