A tourism conference to be held in May on the Greek island of Kos, with a focus on the creation of tourist zones in the BSEC countries, has been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The conference, scheduled to be held May 15-16, was recently announced by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) and the Greek Tourism Ministry.

“Greek Deputy Minister of Tourism Manos Konsolas and PABSEC Secretary General Asaf Hajiyev have agreed to postpone the conference due to increased precautionary measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus,” an announcement by the Tourism Ministry said.

According to the announcement, the ministry and PABSEC will be in contact in order to reschedule the conference once the situation is normalized.

The BSEC countries include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, the Russian Federation, Turkey, Ukraine and Serbia.

Greece joined PABSEC in 1995.
