Air Travel AEGEAN to Temporarily Cut Most International Flights by GTP editing team 17 March 2020 written by GTP editing team 17 March 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Greek airline company AEGEAN is temporarily cutting the majority of flights in its international network, following the elevation of the Covid-19 virus to pandemic status. The carrier will also reduce the frequency of flights in its domestic network. “AEGEAN is obliged to proceed with drastic further reduction measures to its network after the directives issued by the EU, Greece and other states within or outside the EU, severely limiting the ability to travel for specific nationalities and to specific destinations,” the company said in an announcement. Within the next few days, and with duration until the end of April, the majority of the frequencies of AEGEAN’s international network will be gradually discontinued while the domestic network will also be significantly reduced in terms of frequency. A minimum service schedule to major EU destinations and all domestic destinations will be retained at this time. “The main objective of the company, at this time, continues to be how to best contribute to the resolution of the health crisis and to best protect its customers and employees,” AEGEAN said. Additionally, in cooperation with Greek authorities, AEGEAN is able – if requested – to operate repatriation flights from destinations which have been discontinued. Meanwhile, AEGEAN has announced a zero rebooking fee policy for its passengers should they wish to book for later dates. Furthermore, for passengers whose flights are being canceled and do not want to immediately rebook, AEGEAN is offering a credit voucher of equal value to the original ticket. The voucher may be used by the passenger in any route in AEGEAN’s and Olympic Air’s network for one year after its issuance. Passengers are advised to visit the company’s website at www.aegeanair.com, for information.
