Covid-19 Actions taken on a local level Mediterranean Yacht Show 2020 Cancelled by GTP editing team 17 March 2020 written by GTP editing team 17 March 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 The Greek Yachting Association (GYA) has decided to cancel the Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) 2020 event due to the coronavirus pandemic. The seventh edition of the annual yachting event was originally scheduled to take place in the Greek port city of Nafplion in the Peloponnese during May 2-6. However, the event’s organizer GYA and the Municipality of Nafplio decided to cancel due to the further spread of the coronavirus in Greece and around the world. “This decision was taken after carefully assessing the situation worldwide,” GYA said in an announcement. Aiming to promote yachting tourism in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean, MEDYS each year brings together central agents and brokers, as well as exhibitors from all over the world. Furthermore, the event features dozens of luxury yachts that are available for inspection. According to GYA, the travel restrictions currently implemented in many countries around the world, and the possibility of their extension, have made it impossible for the organizers to hold this year’s MEDYS event. “The health and safety of our visitors and partners is our highest priority,” GYA added. The association is looking forward to holding the 7th Mediterranean Yacht Show in 2021.
