The country’s latest set of support measures concerned all Greek businesses and workers. “The data shows that Greek tourism is severely affected from Covid-19,” Staikouras told Greek TV station ANT1 on late Wednesday, adding that the government’s next package of measures will specifically focus on the specific sector. According to the minister, the government is planning to group a series of interventions for the tourism sector, businesses and workers of which were also included in the measures announced earlier on Wednesday. “Nevertheless, more targeted action is needed in this direction,” he said, adding that the measures should be announced in a timely manner. Minister Staikouras said that the government is especially examining the situation of the hotels in Athens, which have not closed but have a very large reduction in turnover. Announcements should be made in the coming days, he mentioned. During his interview the minister added that the country’s travel agencies will also receive support.
