All travelers arriving to Greece from abroad are required to self-isolate (quarantine) for fourteen days, the Greek Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Chardalias, has reminded. The measure is among those announced by the government to limit the spread of the coronavirus in Greece. “Surveillance of the measure will be rigorous throughout the country,” Chardalias said during a media briefing to journalists on Thursday. According to the deputy minister, the Greek authorities will carry out strict checks on all incoming travelers at Greek airports, regardless of nationality. Travelers who enter Greece airports from abroad are obliged to fill out special questionnaires, which among other things will indicate their destination of travel. “There will be intensive checks throughout the country as to whether the people who have entered Greece are following the 14-day quarantine rule,” Chardalias underlined. All travelers entering the country pass through special gates and receive information regarding Greece’s Covid-19 measures in four languages (Greek, English, French and German). This information material is distributed by staff from the Greek Fire Brigade, who will highlight the obligation of all travelers to strictly obey the 14-day self-quarantine rule. “The self-quarantine rule is something we will strongly follow up on,” Chardalias said.
