Athens’ Hotel Grande Bretagne and King George Hotel temporarily suspend their operation due to the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Greece. The move follows the Greek government’s decision to close the country’s seasonal and year-round hotels until April 30. The two hotels are owned and controlled by Lampsa Hellenic Hotels S.A, a subsidiary company of the Laskaridis Group. They are managed by Marriott International, Inc., one of the world’s leading hotel companies with more than 5,700 properties in over 110 countries. According to an announcement, Athens’ iconic Hotel Grande Bretagne has never had to close its doors during its 150-year history. “We are looking forward to re-opening both hotels in the near future and offering the impeccable service all of our loyal guests have come to expect from us,” the hotels’ management said. The two five-star properties are on a prime location at Syntagma Square in the heart of Athens.
