AEGEAN will provide for aircraft and crew as well as other variable costs, while Hellenic Petroleum will cover the respective fuel costs through its subsidiary EKO. In order to maximize available capacity for cargo transportation AEGEAN has already adequately adjusted two of its AIRBUS A320/321 passenger aircraft. The two Greek companies will initially offer up to 10 flights to China, Far East or other countries that produce medical and pharmaceutical materials or other necessary materials and equipment which can be carried by AEGEAN’s fleet. The Greek Ministry for Civil Protection will coordinate the initiative. According to AEGEAN, flights may also cater to the demands of prefectures, non profit organizations or other entities that have offered to provide or donate equipment to Greece. AEGEAN and Hellenic Petroleum have also expressed their willingness to operate any repatriation flights requested on behalf of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
