The Municipality of Athens has introduced its “Help at Home Plus” program which aims to support vulnerable groups deal with the Covid-19 crisis.

Designed with the help of experts and based on the municipality’s existing “Help at Home” program, the extended scheme aims to receive and meet the demands of Athens’ residents that are affected by the measures imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Help at Home Plus” is addressed to Athens’ residents that face diseases and medical emergencies; the elderly that cannot receive help from their family; and people that are alone.

Its services are offered at home by social workers, medical staff and the program’s assistants, and include counseling, medical care, as well as the delivery of basic goods such as medicines and groceries.

Residents that are beneficiaries of the social grocery store and pharmacy, the City of Athens Homeless Foundation (KYADA) and the Greek Fund for European Aid (TEBA), are also entitled to receive food, groceries and medicines at home.

According to Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyiannis, the Municipality will continue to stand by its residents. “Especially our fellow citizens that need us – the ones that live alone, the helpless that need a hand. They are our family,” he said.

Athens’ residents can report their needs by phone at 1595 or 210-5277000.
