Following a recent announcement by Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias, a strict curfew will be imposed on the residents of Mykonos, starting today (Monday) and for the next 14 days. Mykonos’ residents are forbidden of any movement outside their homes daily, from 8pm to 8am. They will be able to walk their pets but only for 15 minutes on the block around their house. The exceptions of leaving home to exercise outdoors or assist others in need, have been suspended. Assistance to residents in need will be provided by the municipality through the “Help at Home” program. In addition, Mykonos’ residents cannot attend weddings or christenings, only funerals provided that they are among the closest relatives of the deseased. In the case of families where parents are separated or divorced, the parent who does not have custody will not have visitation rights. The government has also imposed stricter measures on the operation of super markets and farmers markets on the island. Santorini island. Photo: GTP Meanwhile, the Greek authorities have decided to suspend all construction activities on the island of Santorini, starting today and for the next 30 days. Public reconstruction works at the Athinios port, and on the roads leading to the port and to the island’s airport, as well as on the caldera in the areas of Oia and Firostefani, are exempt from the measure.
