The UNWTO’s platform is aimed at offering individuals, businesses or institutional users, joining the online campaign, access to images for social media profiles, electronic signatures, as well as relevant audio-visual content on tourism and Covid-19. The #TravelTomorrow campaign has had a massive impact on social networks and is being embraced by a growing number of countries, destinations and companies linked to tourism. Destinations worldwide, including Germany, Morocco, Mongolia, Oman and Uruguay, have endorsed the #TravelTomorrow hashtag, amplifying the united voice of tourism in these trying times. At the same time, the crisis committee, chaired by the UNWTO and with the participation of Greek Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis among others, has called for financial and political support for recovery measures aimed at the tourism sector, in coordination with international development organizations, in order to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on employment, protect the most vulnerable segments of society and accelerate recovery. Additionally, other recommendations include promoting actions and policies focused on sustainable development through solidarity and respect, caring for the environment, ongoing learning, decent work conditions, and the creation of new opportunities for all. “Historically, tourism has proven itself as a key driver of international recovery, and as early as now, we must begin to prepare in order to build the foundations of the future resilience of tourism,” said UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili.
