Covid-19 Actions taken on a local level #mycityviewchallenge: AIA Invites You to Recreate Athens from Home by GTP editing team 8 April 2020 written by GTP editing team 8 April 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 25 #mycityviewchallenge aims to create a “virtual” digital album of cities “from inside – out” – just as they are witnessed now, temporarily, by their residents as they stay home as a precaution against the Covid-19 pandemic. Athens International Airport (AIA) is inviting all to join its #mycityviewchallenge launched on social media to create a “virtual” digital album of cities “from the inside – out”. The first city of the challenge will be Athens – #mycityviewathens. “While staying dis-connected by air for a while – now that almost the entire planet is #stayingathome – let’s create another kind of connectivity: Get the world connected from home through insta photo views from your window, your balcony, your terrace, and…. ‘recreate’ your city from the inside!,” AIA said in an announcement. #mycityviewathens Challenge “This is a call from Athens Airport, challenging you with a view from its window … now and then. Challenge your contacts to participate. Let’s map out the world from the inside! We start with Athens! Let’s continue with the cities of the world!!!” – AIA Users are invited to upload many photos of Athens on Instagram and Facebook – taken from the window, balcony, or terrace – and older ones from a favourite city spot. “From the first spot that you’d love to go to and walk around again when this is over.” AIA noted. Users are required to use the challenge’s official hashtags #mycityviewchallenge and #mycityviewathens and tag/mention AIA’s social media accounts on Facebook (@ATHairport) and Instagram (@athairport). Every week, AIA will upload a user’s photo on its social media accounts, with a special mention (username). The uploaded photos will create a “virtual” digital album of Athens “from inside – out” as witnessed temporarily by its residents as they stay home as a precaution against the Covid-19 pandemic. At a later stage, international airports and cities from all over the world will be challenged, as AIA aims to create an alternative “connection” between airports and cities, now that actual air-connectivity remains, for now, “dis-connected”. “Depending on the participation of international airports and major urban centers of the world, the goal is to form a ‘world map’ of major cities, through the eyes of their inhabitants, now that they must ‘stay home’,” AIA said.
