Covid-19 Actions taken on a local level Thessaloniki’s MICE Tourism Profile on Video by GTP editing team 10 April 2020 written by GTP editing team 10 April 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 10 The Municipality of Thessaloniki and the Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB) have launched a new video promoting the city’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) tourism offerings, aiming to maintain its momentum as a conference and events destination after the coronavirus crisis subsides. “The replanning and reorganization of promotion strategies will be the first steps destinations must take for the next day (after Covid-19), when the conditions will allow us to proceed with corrective actions,” TCB said in an announcement The 1.30-minute video promotes Thessaloniki as a dynamic, emerging, lively urban center. It shows the city’s quality features; sites of interest; infrastructure for conferences, meetings and events; and moments from its everyday life, experiences and tastes worth exploring. The video is part of a broader audiovisual program – named the Visitors’ Experience project – funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) to promote the destination. SNF has also offered equipment and two trained executives for the operation of the city’s Tourist Information Centers, located at central Aristotelous Square and outside the Royal Theater. The two centers will remain closed until April 30, due to the government’s measures against the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, TCB has been working closely with all tourism stakeholders for the promotion of Thessaloniki to the international MICE market. “With proper planning, targeted moves, cooperation between all stakeholders, the efficient use of tools and budget, and our adaptation to the trends of the international markets, we will confront the consequences of this unprecedented global crisis,” TCB said.
