The event’s organizing committee donated protection suits and glasses, thermometers, antiseptics, hand and surface disinfectants to EKAV Rhodes Chief Charalambos Tsimplekas. “During these difficult times that our country and the whole world are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we wish to support EKAV, which is at the forefront of this battle with an invisible enemy, defending our health. It is the least we can do,” said the president of the event’s organizing committee Marieta Papavasiliou. Meanwhile, in 2019, Rhodes International Marathon funded the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator for the regional Volunteer Samaritans Corps of the Hellenic Red Cross, which supports the event by covering the medical needs of the race’s participants. “Rhodes Interantional Marathon has, once again, showed its social character,” said Michalis Pavlous, member of the BoD of the Hellenic Athletics Federation – SEGAS, co-organizer of the event. Pavlous also expressed his hope that the scientific community will soon be able to contain the pandemic. The 7th Rhodes International Marathon event is scheduled to take place on Rhodes on April 18, 2021.
