Considered as Greece’s most significant aviation event, AFW takes place annually at the Tanagra Air Base north of Athens, in the presence of hundreds of thousands of fans from all over the world. The two-day event offers a unique show of spectacular stunts by leading teams and pilots from around the globe. The event relies on a wide range of employees, aircraft and crews, rescuers and doctors of various specialties, but also on state services that are currently focused on the fight against the coronavirus health crisis. “Unfortunately, the unprecedented health conditions and measures to limit the spread of the epidemic, leave us with no choice but to cancel this year’s air show. The health and safety of visitors, employees, crews, but also of all those who love Athens Flying Week is our top priority,” AWF Organizing Committee President Panagiotis Podimatas said, also adding that the air show will return in 2021 stronger and more impressive than ever.
