According to an announcement by the airport, people entering Austria can receive a medical report quickly and easily by means of a so-called PCR (polymerise chain reaction) test carried out directly on site. The airport said that air travel for business and private travellers is now safer and easier in accordance with currently valid travel and health regulations: passengers arriving at Vienna Airport are obliged to either present a medical certificate not older than four days, which confirms negative Covid-19 test findings, or are required to begin a 14-day quarantine. The airport’s new coronavirus testing service for health protection and travel safety aims to offer an improvement for repatriates and passengers entering Austria. Travellers from abroad can reserve an appointment at Vienna Airport in advance by phone or email, and thus gain clarity promptly after arriving in Vienna as to whether or not they have to quarantine themselves. The results of the PCR tests taken at Vienna Airport are available within a period of two to three hours and if the test turns out to be negative, no 14-day quarantine in Austria is necessary. Positive test results will be immediately reported to public authorities, who will initiate appropriate steps to treat the affected person. The Covid-19 test at Vienna Airport is a private service and costs 190 euros. According to the airport, the testing service is not only for incoming travelers but for anyone interested. For passengers departing Vienna, the test is considered useful as it allows them to prove that they have not been infected with the coronavirus when entering their designated destination. At present, Vienna Airport is operating scheduled flights to Doha, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Lisbon, Minsk and Sofia.
