Photo: GTP Greek Culture Minister Lina Mendoni announced this week a series of coronavirus (Covid-19) safe-distancing rules that will apply to outdoor cinemas, museums and archaeological sites. Archaeological sites are scheduled to re-open on May 18, open-air cinemas on June 1, and museums on June 15. More specifically, only a set number of visitors will be allowed into museums each hour and they will be required to maintain a 2-meter distance from each other. The use of masks and antiseptic hand gel are highly recommended. Open-air cinemas (known as “therina”) will operate on a 40 percent capacity so as to ensure social distancing of customers. Photo Source: Visit Greece © Vrettos With regard to archaeological sites, a restricted number of visitors will be allowed to enter the space every hour and will be required to keep a safe distance of 1.5 meters from one another. Filming activities will resume as of May 18 under set conditions ensuring safe distances and hygiene measures are kept to including disinfecting spaces before and after rehearsals or shootings. Additionally, performers, actors and crews are advised to use protective masks and antiseptic hand gel, while special rules will apply for makeup, hairdresser, cloakroom, equipment, etc. Live events will take place only in open air venues and are scheduled to begin on July 15 with a 40 percent capacity. Lastly, Minister Mendoni also announced the employee categories active in culture eligible for the government’s 800-euro subsidy for those impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
