Greece on Tuesday temporarily suspended flights to and from Qatar until June 15, after 12 passengers that arrived in Athens from Doha on Monday tested positive for Covid-19.

According to an announcement by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, 91 passengers on a Qatar Airways flight to Athens were all tested for Covid-19 after landing at Athens International Airport. Among the passengers, 12 tested positive for coronavirus.

Of these infected passengers, nine are Pakistani nationals, coming from the city of Guhrat, with a residence permit in Greece; two are Greek nationals coming from Australia; and one is a Greek national from Japan.

Following the current protocol for citizens entering Greece by air, authorities transferred all passengers to quarantine hotels after testing.  The 12 coronavirus-infected passengers will remain in quarantine for 14 days. Passengers that tested negative will remain in quarantine for 7 days as high-risk and low-risk contacts and then tested again.
