Lufthansa Group Re-launches Flights to Greece after Covid-19

Lufthansa Group announced this week that it was expanding its post-Covid-19 flight schedule in the months ahead to include dozens of flights to Greek destinations including Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Santorini.

The group, which through the Star Alliance program includes Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, and SWISS, will be offering 90 percent of short and medium-haul routes and 70 percent of long-haul destinations by September, it said.

More specifically, as of July, Lufthansa will be doubling its flights from Munich to Athens, and servicing (out of Munich) Heraklion (Crete), Corfu, Santorini and Rhodes as well as Thessaloniki out of Frankfurt airport.

Last month, the German carrier said it would be doubling its flights to Athens from Frankfurt and Munich as of June 15, when Greece opens to travel.

Subsidiary SWISS will be flying Geneva to Thessaloniki, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Heraklion, Mykonos, Kos and Corfu from the first week of July and Austrian Airlines will connect Vienna with Chania (Crete), Corfu, Heraklion, Karpathos, Kos, Rhodes, Santorini and Zakynthos.

The company also said it had opened its global network of connections via all hubs of the Group.

On short- and medium-haul routes, Lufthansa will offer a total of 1,800 weekly connections from September onwards with 102 destinations from Frankfurt and 88 from Munich, including Malaga, Alicante, Valencia, Naples, Rhodes, Palermo, Faro, Madeira, Olbia, Dubrovnik, Reykjavik and many other summer destinations from Frankfurt.

Many of the resumed destinations are already today, 4 June, being implemented in the booking systems and can therefore be booked. All destinations are updated daily on lufthansa.com and on the websites of the respective Group carriers.

Low-cost carrier Eurowings will also be servicing Greece as well as Italy, Spain, and Croatia mainly out of Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne/Bonn.

The company advises passengers to plan their trip taking the current entry and quarantine regulations of the respective destinations into account and adds that restrictions may be imposed throughout the trip due to stricter hygiene and safety regulations.

As of June 8, passengers on all Lufthansa and Eurowings flights are obliged to wear a mask or mouth and nose cover on board throughout the flight.
