The ministry’s announcement follows a meeting held by Deputy Tourism Minister Manos Konsolas with Hellenic University President Odysseas-Ioannis Zoras and Vice President of Administrative Affairs Efstathios Efstathopoulos. According to Konsolas, the establishment of a tourism education department in Ancient Olympia is considered necessary due to the significance of the area’s historic and cultural assets. The deputy minister also finds the island of Kos ideal for the establishment of a faculty or branch of the university’s “Health Units Administration” master’s program, to “further highlight the island’s connection with Hippocrates, the father of medicine”.
