The annual Chios Music Festival this summer returns to the Aegean island with a redesigned artistic program and new creative collaborations focusing on Greek artists.

Between August 3-8 the festival will take place in various locations around Chios including the Archaeological Museum, the Mastic Museum, the Spyros Stephanou Estate in Kampos and the Vigla of Pachi Open Air Theatre in Tigani Sidirounta, while some events will be held on Oinousses, a cluster of islets off the northeastern coast of Chios.

All venues will be properly set up to strictly adhere to all protection measures and ensure the safety of the audience and participants against COVID-19.

Some of the artists participating in the Chios Music Festival this year include Sokratis Sinopoulos and Martha Mavroidi, the Yasemi Vocal Quartet and the Giocoso String Quartet.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary since the death of Greek composer Jani Christou, the festival will include the screening of a documentary by Costis Zouliatis titled “Anaparastasis: Life & Work of Jani Christou (1926-1970)”.

In addition, the festival will feature workshops for refugee children as well as masterclasses for the students of the Chios Music School with Syrian singer Ghays Mansour.

The Festival will be held under the auspices of the Culture Ministry. It is organized in collaboration with the Allianz Cultural Foundation and a grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and The John Fafalios Foundation, in collaboration with the North Aegean Region. Furthermore, it is sponsored by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Athens and other organizations.

Admission is free with a card that must be obtained at least two days before the respective event from the local Pyxida bookstore or online through www.ticketservices.gr.
