Destinations news Greece is Number One in Europe for Secluded Beaches, Says Survey by GTP editing team 22 July 2020 written by GTP editing team 22 July 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 Agios Sostis beach, Mykonos © Maria Theofanopoulou Greece is home to more secluded beaches than anywhere in Europe, a recent survey by UK online travel agency loveholidays reveals. Loveholidays searched TripAdvisor reviews to discover destinations with the highest proportion of mentions of “secluded”, “isolated”, “remote” and “hidden”. More than a third (seven) of the beaches on the top 20 list are located in Greece. Source: loveholidays The survey includes destinations with less than 1,000 reviews and a four-star rating or more. Ahla Beach, Andros Ahla beach, a “hidden gem” on the Greek island of Andros, overwhelmingly tops the list with a third of reviews describing it as “secluded”. Facing east, it’s the perfect place to watch the sunrise in this hidden-away area of the island, surrounded by pure untouched nature. Kimilia Beach, Kefallonia The sandy Kimilia Beach in Erisos on the island of Kefallonia boasts everything travelers would expect from a dreamy beach – pure azure waters, white sand and surrounding cliffs. Visitors can reach the beach through a long gravel-laid lane and forest track. Dafnoudi Beach, Kefallonia Visiting Dafnoudi Beach on the island of Kefallonia is an adventure from beginning to end. Visitors have to trek to get there but there are caves and grottos to explore that are worth the effort. Cedar Forest of Alyko, Naxos As the name suggests, this beach is surrounded by a cedar forest. Rarely crowded, this beach is the ideal place for relaxing and exploring the nearby nature. Agios Sostis Beach, Mykonos “Secluded” might not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking of Mykonos, an island often associated with partying, but Agios Sostis beach has it in bucketloads. Untouched, wild and rigid, it’s an authentic beach experience. Panormos Beach, Mykonos Another Mykonos beach, on the north side of the island, Panormos provides an escape from the crowds and the party animals. Quiet, peaceful and beautiful, it offers clear waters and soft sand with nearby tavernas. Mandraki Beach, Skiathos Hike down to Mandraki Beach on the island of Skiathos to catch the sunset over the clear water and white sand. Deserted, it will ensure peace and quiet – and even a beachside bar to enjoy a few drinks.
