Lufthansa’s Business Lounge at Athens Airport Reopens with New Health Measures

The Lufthansa Business Lounge at Athens International Airport has reopened its doors, after a pause of almost four months due to the COVID-19 outbreak, under a new health regime.

“Since travel restrictions have eased and we are slowly returning to the new normal, we felt necessary to assess travel volumes and work on the right approach to reopen our lounge service and welcome our passengers back,” said Konstantinos Tzevelekos, Lufthansa Group general manager Sales for Greece and Cyprus.

The lounge is now open daily from 5.30am – 7pm and follows all safety measures and precautions to make sure that guests feel safe both while flying and during their visit at the premises.

Changes at Lufthansa Business Lounge

Under the new health and safety scheme, guests at Lufthansa Business Lounge will notice the following changes in service:

– the lounge seating arrangement has been modified to fully comply with social distancing rules, the self-serve beverage station will no longer be available and hot drinks will now be served by the lounge staff in disposable cups.

– a self-service snack buffet will be on offer for all passengers visiting the main lounge, with various options depending on the time of day, with all items served sealed or packed, whereas for the time being there will be no hot food service offered.

–  passengers will only be served bottled water within the “Lounge area” and the bistro zone. The reception desk has been closed with glass to minimize physical contact and protect the guests and staff.

– reading material will no longer be available to guests.

Second flight from Athens to Munich

Moreover, Lufthansa Group continues to extend its service to Greece.

The Group has already launched a new connection from Rhodes to Munich and will also add a second flight from Athens to Munich from September onwards, enhancing travel options and flight volume for passengers.

“Greece has always been a high demand destination for us and we are excited to be able to increase the connection between Athens and Rhodes to Munich, bearing in mind the difficulties of the last few months.” Tzevelekos said.
